Hiya Group, I am looking here to see if GD played the song Whiskey in the jar. I heard a song on a netcast and it had to be Jerry G. singing, no mistaking the voice, Is there an example of that song here? Lum

There is a very cool recording from a rehearsal on the last disc of the "So Many Roads" box set. Jerry just breaks into the tune and suprises everyone in the band -- they stop and discuss it for about a minute -- and Jerry just goes back into it and the band joins in. (Sometime in the early 1990's)They did it as a sound check in March of 1993 (24th & 28th) -- AshesRising (AshesRising@gmail.com)

Hey Lum: Are you all set or would you like the version "Purple Gel" mentioned and the one I have from the rehearsal? -- AshesRising (AshesRising@gmail.com)

Thanks Ashes, I would very much like the version you mentioned. I found the Garcia/Grismon song in a friends file list and Thats the one I heard. Very Bluegrassy. Whats your favorite live concert? (aud) I would like to download it for an upcoming trip in case I get tired of OTR. Lum
If I can be nosy whats your favorite SBD show as well? I have been having GD night on saturdays for the past month. I listened to this last weekend....

Lum: I am way too biased to give you an honorable answer. First realize there is no such thing as "best" -- that is one of the key aspects that made Jerry and the band be a unique entity outside of time-and-space while being utterly immersed in time-and-space. Others on this forum will provide you with better and proper guidance as to the "aud's" and "SBD's" that reside here. (I think you can't go wrong checking out 1979-10-27, 2nd set, beginning with Dancin' up to the drums; it's carved into my "being"). Send me an email. -- AshesRising
